Personal Sound Concepts

Philosophy

Personal Sound Concepts originates from the idea that the sound around us can be organized into music, but also, that there is an inherent benefit in this practice - sounds culled and designed from one's immediate surroundings have a different connection to the artist than those found in pre-recorded sources. The basis of the course orients towards considering this practice carefully, because even if it isn't how one wants to work usually, it strengthens skills that overlap into any way of making music, as well as editing film, and a variety of other visual arts.

Listening to the world differently - more carefully - and considering how to work under certain constraints, enhances the ability to develop ideas even further when those constraints are removed, when you realize how much you can do with less.
